The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken the decision to terminate Rauf’s central contract. This action follows the pacer’s refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad for the recently concluded tour of Australia.
Following a detailed investigation, where the pacer had a chance to explain himself, Haris’ central contract has been ended starting December 1, 2023. Moreover, he won’t be allowed to play in any foreign league until June 30, 2024, as no No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be issued. This decision was made due to Haris’ unsatisfactory response during the investigation.
Pakistan went on a tour to Australia for three Tests in December and January 2023. While they displayed moments of brilliance, the team ultimately faced a 3-0 whitewash.
Today brought another notable change in Pakistani cricket. It was announced that Mohammad Hafeez has stepped down from his role as Director of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. Hafeez served in this position during the team’s tours of Australia and New Zealand.
Even though Rauf skipped the Test series to play in the Australian Big Bash League, he returned for the New Zealand T20I series. He performed well, taking seven wickets with an average of 23 and an economy rate of 10.61. Despite his efforts, Pakistan lost the five-game series 4-1.
