In a statement she shared on social media, Carano said, “I felt like everything I said or even liked was used against me because my views didn’t match the popular opinion at the time. My words were twisted to make me look like an extremist. It felt like they were trying to silence me and set an example for others.”

Gina Carano, known for her role in the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian,” has filed a lawsuit against Disney alleging a violation of her free speech rights. The suit claims that Carano was fired for expressing her own opinions on social media platforms while off-duty, and for standing up against what she perceives as an intolerant atmosphere within the company.
Last year, Elon Musk offered to fund legal assistance for individuals unfairly treated by their employers due to their social media activity. Carano responded to Musk’s offer, indicating that she believed she qualified for assistance. Confirming their support, the social media company, referred to as X Corp, stated that they are aiding Carano in her lawsuit as a demonstration of their commitment to free speech.
Musk, who has previously been involved in disputes with Disney, commented on Carano’s lawsuit, inviting others to join if they felt similarly mistreated. Carano is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a court order to be reinstated on the show.
In response to the lawsuit, Carano expressed her desire to continue her career in storytelling and to clear her name from what she perceives as false accusations propagated by a powerful entertainment company.
